Favorite site or activity to guide and why?

Although I love guiding in Jerusalem – the heart and soul of Israel, I have to go with the Desert! From the Exodus to Masada narratively speaking, and from Sde Boker to the Western Negev geographically speaking, the desert is the place where the Jewish people were shaped and challenged. A place of absolute beauty and peace, and an endless struggle between men and nature. It looks empty and desolate at first glance, but there is so much more than meets the eye.

What’s your best tip for first time visit in Israel?

Don’t miss the spectacular and diverse natural beauty of the land. Of course, you should visit Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem, Akko is great and so is Jaffa. but a trip is not complete without seeing the land. Take a short hike, dip in a natural spring, or enjoy the sunset sitting at the top of mountain. The landscapes of Israel are part of the story of this place.

Favorite Jewish/Israeli historical figure and why?

Theodore Herzl – the man with the dream. Herzl managed to see the unseen, and imagine the unimaginable. He broke old conceptions and literally changed all of our future. Unfortunately, like many other prophets, he didn’t get to see his effort and prophecy become a reality.
