Favorite site or activity to guide and why? I love guiding in Haifa! It’s not only the most beautiful of all Israeli cities, with unbelievable recent history, mouthwatering food, and endless beautiful sandy beaches. I think this city is often misrepresented and misunderstood. Being here and meeting the people in it, allows for talking about many serious current internal issues of the Israeli society in a more relaxed and open manner than is usually possible in other cities, especially Jewish-Arab relations. One example – Where else in Israel can you discuss religious and civil matters, in a mosque, with a pacifistic Imam? Nowhere. This is why I love this city and think that everyone can greatly benefit their tour in Israel by visiting it.
What’s your best tip for first time visit in Israel? Do not leave Israel without trying some street food: Falafel, Shawarma, Sabich, Borekas, Shakshuka, Knafe – the list is endless.
Favorite Jewish/Israeli historical figure and why? My Father, Michael Weinberger is my favorite Israeli character. You might say I’m biased, and you will certainly be right, but it’s not only the fact that he is a great dad and grandfather – He worked for many years for the JNF (Jewish National Fund). Started with planting trees, ended up managing all the JNF operations in Northern Israel, literally making Israel greener in so many ways. We have a beautiful country and it is thanks to people like my dad, that worked very hard, started with next to nothing, and tried to create the best version of Israel that can be.
