Right after crossing the boarder, we were greeted by the tour operator. Due to some miscommunication, last minute changes had to be made – David from Touring Israel did it all and we had a fantastic tour of TLV and Jerusalem. Our Guide was Dor who gave us a great tour of the two cities, has lots of knowledge, answers all the questions and we have had various very interesting discussions! What an incredible trip, tailored to our interests and implemented with such grace and skill by the extraordinary Joe Yudin and his staff and guides. We were two couples with mutual interests in history, religion, culture, food, music, and Israel’s military. We did not want to be part of an impersonal, unwieldy large entourage. We’ve been on trips like that and now try to avoid them if possible. Touring Israel hit all the targets we were aiming for, plus many more, and our comprehensive tour would not have been possible with a larger group. In just 10 days, we climbed Masada, viewed Syria from the Golan Heights, floated in the Dead Sea, waded in the Jordan River, marveled at the wonder of Petra, met with IDF military trainers, shared breakfast with an Arab Israeli journalist, prepared a meal with a charming and beautiful Druze woman, touched the rock of Golgotha, ate street food that spanned the culinary landscape, toured the Judean desert, sipped delicious wine next to vines planted and tended by an intrepid winemaker, and the list goes on. A special thanks goes to the travel agent assigned to make all the arrangements, Monika. She’s a gem and charming. Finally, the guide assigned to us, Bena, was perhaps the best we’ve ever encountered: funny, resourceful, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. Bena met us in Tel Aviv and spent the entire time with us. With Bena leading the way, we bypassed long waiting lines and met wonderful street food vendors and interesting characters wherever we went. Thank you, Joe Yudin and team for making our pilgrimage something we’ll think and talk about for the rest of our lives. We want to return and when we do, it will be through Touring Israel. Our family went to Israel this past August for 14 days and had the trip of a lifetime! Touring Israel was a huge part of the success of our trip. We spent several months planning the trip with Joe Yudin (and Rivka). Joe gave us great ideas of what we can do with our kids (10 and 13 years old) so we can balance history and fun while dealing with the summer heat. Not only did we do the usual historical visits such as the Western Wall, Caesarea, and Masada/Dead Sea but we also went jeeping in the Golan, went on an archeological dig and spelunking in caves, visited the Ayalon Bullet Factory, rafted on the Jordan River and more. Kids had a blast and my husband and I experienced things we never did before in Israel. From the moment we landed, Touring Israel was there for us. We opted for the VIP service at the airport, which we highly recommend so you can quickly get in and out of the airport. Rivka from the TI office called us shortly after we arrived at the airport and then checked in on us throughout our trip to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. We spent 7 days with the greatest tour guide you can find, Itzik! Joe did a great job pairing us up! Itzik was so knowledgeable and personable. He really helped us understand the history behind everywhere we went. Itzik was also wonderful with the kids and got them engaged. We felt so lucky we had him as our guide. From our first call with Jonathan at Touring Israel, to itinerary planning with Gil, itinerary tweaks with Rivka, our van driver Alex, and most of all our guide for 2 weeks, Phil the Guide; this trip exceeded the expectations of 3 couples, 1/2 of whom had been to Israel and 1/2 of whom hadn’t! As soon as we touched down at Ben Gurion Airport and were ushered through security and driven to our hotel in Jerusalem, each day was memorable and well planned. This privately planned tour took us to places that we would not necessarily have seen on our own, from Jerusalem to the Galilee, the Negev and Tel Aviv. We visited the traditional sites, but there was so much more from a very moving visit to the Palmach Museum, an important munitions factory in Israel’s journey to statehood in Tel Aviv, a jeep tour through the Golan Heights, tunnels under the Western Wall and so many more highlights.. Phil the Guide went above and beyond to ensure that everything was executed flawlessly and did so with an incredible depth of knowledge, energy, excitement and sense of humor. From the moment we first contacted Touring Israel until we were escorted to the gate for our flight home it was obvious we were in good hands. The trip planning was flawless and all of our questions were promptly answered. The nine days of touring could not have been better. Activities included breakfast the first morning with an officer of the IDF, a market culinary tour in Tel Aviv, a jeep tour of the Golan Heights and dinner with an Arab Christian family. Our guide, Daniel, was extremely knowledgeable in the history of the modern State of Israel as well as ancient history and religion. His insight into the challenges facing this area is exceptional. He modified our agenda according to our needs and interests, even arranging a wheelchair and driver in Old Jerusalem. We expected a comprehensive tour with a competent guide…with Daniel it turned into an educational and inspirational Christian pilgrimage with a friend and brother. Our tour was perfect in every way. We just finished a two week tour arranged by Touring Israel and Joe Yudin. The tour and entire team at Touring Israel was amazing and first rate. The itinerary they planned was exceptionally organized and thoroughly researched. The tour not only captured the historical significance of Israel but it also was creative and included activities for people of all ages. The activities were extremely fun and inventive and, most importantly, also connected to the Israeli experience. Joe and his team think of every last detail, are always prepared and organized and are 100% focused on making sure you have the best trip possible. Touring Israel is everything as advertised. I found it online and called explaining I wanted a Christian-themed one week tour for a family of 7. They planned the itinerary, which was pretty standard around the hotel reservations I had already made and subsidized it with their own hotel recommendations where I hadn’t. I made some special requests for a birthday party and a Catholic Mass which they arranged easily. They matched us with a guide, Ari, who was just fantastic. Ari was knowledgeable and flexible. He sized us up immediately (we ranged in age from 13 to 84) and adjusted our one week tour to accommodate the weakest of us. Every step of the way he explained the historical and religious significance of our tour. He was kind, he was funny, and he was smart. He became one of us. He arranged dinner every night for us and kept us on schedule without rushing us. Touring Israel met us for VIP services on the jetway when we landed and took us to the jetway expeditiously when we departed. In short from the moment we landed until the moment we left they were assuring our trip was topnotch. Touring Israel is not cheap and they don’t claim to be. But they are worth the money if you want to see and experience Israel and you want your hassles removed. To try to arrange daily tours and restaurant reservations your self would likely cost even more. I would recommend them and especially Ari anytime. Paul Concorde, MA
