This was our 2nd trip to Israel. Our first trip was 3 years ago to celebrate my eldest daughter’s bat mitzvah. For that trip we used a mitzvah tour company which was great. But this time we didn’t want to tour the same sites and visit the same tourist attractions. We wanted to go off the beaten path and experience the nooks and crannies of Israel. And boy did we! On this trip it was myself, my hubby and our 2 girls, ages 12 and 15. Thanks to Touring Israel’s VIP Airport Assistance service we were greeted immediately off the plane…not at the gate but on the walkway to the gate! I don’t know how they do it but we skipped the long lines and arrived to our driver in no time at all. Same on the way home. This service alone was priceless. Our tour guide was Jon Cutler. Though not Israeli, Jon’s passion for Israel and his historical knowledge are superb. Additionally, he was fun to be with and when we asked him to ease up on the history a little bit (b/c there is sooo much of course), he was able to impart interesting facts and stories and make it fun too! We spent everyday with Jon and within 2 days he was like a fun uncle to my kids! Our fave experience was cooking with Chef Tali and touring the Jerusalem food markets with her. She’s a doll, her kitchen is wonderful and the food was amazing! Other highlights included hiking Masada before sunrise. Jon picked us up at our hotel at 3am (oy) and drove more than an hour to Masada for this adventure. We then spent the day at Isrotel hotel, went into the dead sea and my husband and i had massages. The kids hung out at the beautiful pool. We celebrated our youngest daughter’s mitzvah at Robinson’s arch near the Wall. (Last trip, our older daughter was bat mitzvahed on Masada). Joe Yudin (the owner of TouringIsrael.com) connected us with Rabbi Stacey. She was delightful. Joe had offered to get us a photographer and we chose not to, but that’s an option. There were other mitzvot taking place and other families had photographers, musicians and family/friends present. We enjoyed our special time together with Rabbi Stacey and my daughter chanting torah however I wish we had more family or friends with us and maybe even a musician. Oh well. We visited an army base to learn krav maga. Our teacher was wonderful. There was also an opp to learn how to shoot a rifle/gun at this base but we chose not to do that. In another location, we visited some soldiers finishing up a tank drill. We got to climb in and on the tanks and ask the soldiers questions as well as thank them for protecting Israel. If you like to zip line and you have gone zip lining before then I would skip the zip lining arranged for us. I can’t recall where it was but it was very short and not worth the drive/time. We had a private tour at YadVashem. Her name is Sarah Eismann and she was amazing. She shared interesting stories that appealed to our girls. Joe had arranged a Twinning ceremony for our bat mitzvah and I really didn’t know what it was or think much of it. But when Sarah brought out a folder with a photo of a young girl with the same name as our daughter (Margo) who perished in the holocaust and thus was not able to become a bat mitzvah, I started to cry and was so touched by this experience as was my daughter. Another wonderful experience was lunch at a winery and sampling wines. We also took a jeep tour that included seeing the vast amount of farming and agriculture taking place in Israel. Our driver stopped at several crops and picked fruits and veges for us to taste right off the vine. We also did a street art tour of Tel Aviv which was quite interesting. Unfortunately, we were not able to kayak in Rosh Hanikra (bad weather) but I mention it b/c you might want to ask to do this. I will mention that my husband and i got sick one day and spent most of the day in our hotel. Jon/Joe were able to switch some things around and accommodate us. That was helpful. I could go on and on singing Touring Israel’s praises. But you must experience it for yourself! S. Kaye, Atlanta, GA

Now or Never! That was my ultimatum to my family! Our 5-month pregnant daughter and her husband both missed out on birthright, (they are now 31!) and my husband and I just never made the journey. From the minute the wheels touched ground, we never looked back! And our Lara never missed a step! Sure, everyone can tell you a million wonderful tales, but, until you smell the Mediterranean Sea, walk the cobblestone streets, taste the sweetness of the fruits and feel touch and see the warmth – no one can tell you anything! And what it really boils down is one word-make it two: Amir Mor, our guide. However, that word doesn’t begin to tell you anything about Amir. Because Amir IS Israel and Israel IS Amir. I am so deeply grateful for his words, his kindness, his sense of adventure and finding the right answer to ALL our questions! He made our trip a time that still brings tears to my eyes- longing to go back. Shalom A Gradet, NYC, NY

The tour was terrific, Our guide Daphna was the best, she really made our visit meaningful. Her knowledge of her country & it’s history was fascinating. We hope to visit again in the future and see all the things we did not have time to see. I would recommend Touring Israel to everyone who wants a personal & up close look at Israel. Thank you so much, for this wonderful experience, it was the trip of a lifetime. Perman Family, Stuart FL

We used a guide from Touring Israel for 6 days during our recent family trip to Israel. The guide we had was very knowledgeable, interesting, sweet, and helpful. She felt like family after a day or so. Some of the benefits to having a guide is that he or she will drive you from place to place every day, get you into places faster usually than those in a line, give you the history behind each site, and make sure you stay in safe areas. An added bonus to having a guide who is Israeli and well-informed, is that you get to ask questions of the guide and learn more about everyday life in Israel, or perhaps delve deeper into other subjects like Israeli politics, the army, and relationships among its citizenry. Before our trip, we worked with Touring Israel to come up with an itinerary. I spoke to about three or four different people through the process (sales, commitment, itinerary, payment). Each person I spoke with was very organized, accommodating, and had a nice way about themselves. I highly recommend using this touring company if you wish to take a trip to Israel. They are expensive, but worth it! P Skoler, Milton MA

If I were to give a star for all the wonderful experiences that Touring Israel provided, I’d have to give more than five but here are some of the areas in which the company excelled. Our guide: energetic, knowledgeable, entertaining, a real mensch. Ari provided a wealth of information on the history of Israel, the various sites we saw, and past and current challenges that Israel is facing. As you engage in converstaion with Ari, you realize that there is no topic that his mind hasn’t embraced. He is a travel guide sent from heaven! Special events: I celebrated my birthday in Israel and told Touring Israel that I wanted to do something memorable. Did they ever step up to the plate! A morning of power-gliding provided a bird’s eye view of the land. Addressing our special needs: My travel partner has special dietary, medication, and other requirements and our guide, Ari, made sure that these were addressed. Planning and execution: Touring Israel planned a customized itinerary with us, one that was executed seamlessly and comfortably (thanks largely to Ari’s spacious van and excellent shock absorbers and to Ari’s ability to anticipate and circumvent traffic). All of the details that can make or break a trip were meticulously thought out. P Bassoff, NYC, NY

We are very seasoned world travelers and are very picky with touring outfits and guides. We always use Wendy Perrin’s WOW list or the list at Conde Nast she developed for many years before she left. Her pick of Joe Yudin and Touring Israel that we selected from her WOW literally knocked our socks off! From the first conversation with Gil on the itinerary, to last minute changes with Maria, the Touring Israel team is highly professional, super customer focused and you can feel their passion for this country. From the moment we arrived in Israel at the airport we felt like royalty as we were whisked through security to a waiting car and off to the hotel. Bena Mantel, who was our tour guide was nothing short of phenomenal. His knowledge of archeology, religion, geo politics, and just about everything under the sun was amazing. Bena is super intelligent, with a great sense of humor and showed such excitement in communicating layers of history in a way both my husband and I understood and we felt his passion which was contagious. My husband loved his stories of his army experiences. While we had a highly customized tour, Bena had no problem changing things around on the tour, once he got to know our likes and dislikes. For instance, Touring Israel had booked great restaurants for dinner, but we wanted more of a casual local combo of locally owned late lunch/dinner venues. In every place we visited, Bena knew of restaurants with great food (the Druze food in the Golan Heights, the little family owned place in Mahane Yehuda and Dr. Shakshuka with the best Shawarma) When we wanted to cancel the sound and light show in Jerusalem or something else that did not appeal to us, no problem. Bena and the touring Israel office (Maria) took care of everything. What really set this trip apart form other personalized tour guides we have had were the interactions we had with Bena. I believe Bena opened doors for us to tour in places that other tour groups could not go and for that it was a much richer experience for us–Plus, he knew everyone at all the sites and one can see that all the people he came in contact with at the sites really liked and respected him and told us so. Toward the last part of our trip we wanted to change hotels and go back to Tel Aviv earlier (which we loved!) and Joe Yudin called us personally and made it happen in the blink of an eye to the Norman, which was a great hotel. The trip to Israel was a long awaited lifetime vacation and it was such a beautiful journey with Bena and Touring Israel. We will be back and it will be with Bena and Touring Israel! A most excellent two days arranged by Touring Israel and expertly conducted by my guide Phil! The preparation and booking were completed simply and efficiently and all arrangements fell into place with no gaps or problems. Most important was the wonderful guide Phil, whose knowledge, professional and friendly manner, skilled ability to teach, and high degree of sensitivity to the needs of his client made the experience unequalled! Highest marks! R Sapsford, Canada

Our family of four had a magnificent 7-day tour arranged by Touring Israel. From the VIP airport escort on arrival, until departure, we had the historic Biblical tour of a lifetime! All the logistics of this personalized itinerary were taken care of in a very professional manner by Gil and Maria. Our own personal guide, Daphne, had the ability to adjust the schedule to avoid long queues and to accommodate your requests. She also picked some wonderful and authentic restaurants for us. I would highly recommend this touring group. Thanks Daphne & Touring Israel for a memorable trip!! Keizer Family, GA

We had used Touring Israel on a tour with my wife and daughter in 2005. Given our positive experience, I decided to call them again for a trip for my wife and myself. Jonathan was terrific in helping us set up our trip to the Negev and Hadera. The driver and tour guide were punctual and excellent in every way. Their English was flawless and all of the arrangements went without any issues or problems. I would wholeheartedly recommend their services for anyone wishing to visit Israel.
